Arkas partners with Taiwan firm

ISTANBUL - One of Turkey's leading shipping and transport companies, Arkas Holding has signed a partnership agreement to become an agency for one of the top Taiwanese shipping firms, Yang Ming Marine, according to a statement released yesterday.

The cooperation between Arkas and Yang Ming, which owns a fleet of 94 ships, was established as trade volume in the eastern Mediterranean and Black Sea increased, Arkas said in the statement.

"It will not be difficult to be successful in the Mediterranean and the Black Sea when these two powers come together," Frank Lu, chairman of Yang Ming said in the statement. Arkas Holding, encompasses 41 companies and over 5,000 employees and offers a wide range of services from international container shipping to port operations.
