US diesel prices hit 5-year low - down 30pc year on year mid-April
US DIESEL prices have fallen to a five-year low, with the average price of a gallon for the week ending April 12 down six per cent against the week before to US$2.75 because of slowing global demand and higher production.
According to the US Energy Information Administration, diesel prices were 30 per cent lower than the same time last year, a level not seen since the week ending December 14, 2009.
Crude oil for May delivery on April 16 was down 0.45 per cent to $56.46 per barrel, according to the New York Mercantile Exchange, reported Newark's Journal of Commerce.
