A last attempt succeeded early start to 'Celia' from the clutches of the sandy beach of Saler, thanks to the channel ready for rescue work by the tugs.
The tug "Punta Mayor" led to the ship, just before midnight, about a mile from the coast.
At dawn (1.20 am) the "Celia" was driven slowly to the Port of Valencia, where it will remain to assess the damage and resolve pending the investigation into the cause of the crew lost control of the vessel during the storm of Sept. 28. On "D" was yesterday for the release of "Celia".
Everything was ready for that from 16.30 hours the tug "Punta Mayor 'boat managed to separate the claws of the sand.
However efforts were fruitless and although the boat and responded to some tugs maneuvers, could not overcome the barrier of sand in which dredges have been working in recent weeks.
After several hours of unsuccessful attempts, the company responsible for the rescue, the Dutch 'Svitzer', decided to halt operations until early today. However, made one last attempt this morning turned out to be a success. During the afternoon, Salvage sources expected the ship was towed to open sea from 16.30 hours and called at that time to the media, they reoccupied the beach with their cameras and notebook while news of an imminent rescue some citizens came to El Saler. The tug "Punta majeure" was supported from the 'Celia', whose crew did balance the ship using one of their cranes and the weight of two large containers being launched constantly between port and starboard.
After 17 hours, the response of the boat to pull the tug and swinging his helmet was already very evident. On the beach, the officers of the company 'Svitzer' took for granted that the operation would be a success even in an exercise of caution refused to anticipate the time when the ship, carrying empty containers, was to be released of sand sarcophagus. For a moment, the fishing boat that went from the rescue work, joined the "dance" that played the "Celia" as announcing an imminent rescue. However, the ship could hardly move toward the open sea along the corridor that opened dredges and responsible refloat the boat decided to postpone nightfall rescue.
