The 114-metre coastal-river cargo ship Vera sank this evening at close proximity of Eregli town of Turkey. 3 saved of a total 11 crewmembers. Search for the missing crewmembers being carrieed out by Turkish Coast Guard.
According to Turkish maritime news portal www.denizhaber.com the ship was carrying 2850 tons of scrap metal from Russian port Rostov to Turkish port Aliaga. According to portal the ship has a Turkish owner. And the ship sank due to adverse weather conditions prevailing in Black Sea.
The rescued three, Ship's chief officer, second officer and the female cook, taken to hospital in Eregli. Governor of Zonguldak, Erol Ayyildiz said that the rescued 3 crewmembers are in good condition. 'The rest has a chance to be rescued' he said.
The ship had 11 crewmembers, 1 Georgian and 10 Ukrainian citizens.
