Salvage work in order to refloat the "Rona" grounded 6 miles west of Kilyos on Jan 27 has started on Jan 28 as the situation of the vessel worsened and the master requested assistance.

Salvage work in order to refloat the "Rona" grounded 6 miles west of Kilyos on Jan 27 has started on Jan 28 as the situation of the vessel worsened and the master requested assistance. Crew abandoned ship

The crew of nine on board the "Rona" was safely evacuated from the ship which was being pounded by severe seas on the beach on Jan 28 between 6.30 and 7.30 p.m.
