County 911 confirms to Kentucky transportation officials that the US
68-KY 80 Eggner's Ferry Bridge has been hit by a large ship -97 meters long US flag ship Delta Mariner- and a
portion of the bridge has collapsed.

68-KY 80 Eggner's Ferry Bridge has been hit by a large ship -97 meters long US flag ship Delta Mariner- and a
portion of the bridge has collapsed.
According to the transportation cabinet's Keith Todd, the early report
from the Coast Guard is that the motor vessel Delta Mariner hit the main
span of the US 68-KY 80 Eggner's Ferry Bridge at about 8:10 p.m., CST.
The pilot says he was running without any barges in tow at the time.
The Kentucky State Police request that motorist who normally travel
westbound on US 68 through the Land between the Lakes to please avoid
LBL and KY 453 or The Trace as well as US 68. KSP request motorist to
instead use the Interstate 24 corridor to the purchase parkway to access
this area.
The Delta Mariner passes under Eggner's Ferry bridge, at one of the previous passages.
Todd says the captain reported no vehicles were on the bridge at the
time of the incident. The captain also says there are no reported
injuries among the 20 crew members on board the vessel at the time.
