"Azztec Maiden" successfully refloated Sunday, 22.Jan.2012, 00:09 (GMT+3) The "Azztec Maiden" was successfully refloated on Jan 21 short before 5 p.m. and pulled out 200 metres to sea. Then the vessel was turned 90 degrees and, after a first survey, pulled to Ijmuiden.
First salvage attempt failed
The first attempt to pull the "Aztec Maiden" off the beach of Wijk aan Zee failed, as the towing cable of the "Svitzer Marker" broke twice after the ship was turned a little bit. Meanwhile also the "Ievoli Black" has e connected again and ballast water pumped out. High tide is on Jan 21 at 2 p.m.
