The High Speed Craft "Osman Gazi 1" which is running between İstanbul's Yenikapı port and Güzelyalı, Bursa, collided with the ro-ro ship "UND Ege" in the Sea of Marmara on Dec 26, 2011, narrowly avoiding capsizing.
The passengers remained seated during the collision at 8.44 a.m Turkish Time (06:44 GMT)
The ro-ro ship hit the upper port side of the ferry's hull.
After he ferry, which was carrying 830 passengers and 150 vehicles, was hit, panic broke out among the passengers.
The ferry returned to Yenikapı after the crash, where the passengers were evacuated from the ferry. There was massive damage on the ship's bow. The ferry had departed from Güzelyalı at 7:30 a.m.
Harbour Master of Istanbul investigating the accident, which appears to be due to human error.
