Suffered an engine failure while transiting Istanbul Strait

Rochester Castle Suffered an engine failure while transiting Bosphorus, Istanbul, on Dec 06 2011 at around 1100 LT. Vessel dropped anchor to avoid grounding, rescue boats came to assist, and an hour later vessel was secured.

ROCHESTER CASTLE lived a near-miss in the Strait of Istanbul

Rochester Castle Suffered an engine failure while transiting Bosphorus, Istanbul, on Dec 06 2011 at around 1100 LT. Vessel dropped anchor to avoid grounding, rescue boats came to assist, and an hour later vessel was secured. It is understood that for some time Bosphorus was closed for traffic. Vessel was towed to outer road in Marmara sea. Rochester Castle is en route from Black sea loaded with wheat.
