Russian river ship Ataman, 114-meter-long , ran aground early this morning Umuryeri banks in Bosporus.

Russian ship went aground in Istanbul Strait


Russian river ship Ataman, 114-meter-long , ran aground early this morning Umuryeri banks in Bosporus. 

Ataman, which belongs to a Russia-based company's ship constructed in 1971, passing the direction from Marmara to Black Sea, with 7.7 knots quickly began to turn to starboard  early from South buoy, went aground in the famous banks of Umuryeri. 

The ship was trying to cross the Bosphorus without pilot.

After the accident by the Coastal Safety Administration-Istanbul VTS a rescue  tug and pilot were sent.  However, trying to refloat by her own facilities, yet refused to help the recovery.

No marine pollution reported.
