General cargo New Star 1 ran aground in Canakkale Strait off Akbas Lighthouse on Dec 2 2010, vessel was enroute Trabzon – Izmir. Master asked for assistance, Vessel Traffic Control sent rescue boat or tug. Vessel was refloated same day and ordered to anchor at Karanlik Liman for inspection. Vessel fined.

New Star 1 IMO 6705145, dwt 1024, built 1966, flag Sierra Leone, operator Armada Denizcilik.
