A passenger-car ferry collided with a bulk carrier in Istanbul Strait last evening injuring one passenger and risking the lives of hundreds of others.
M/F Sultanahmet, a 73-meters long ro-ro passenger vessel which makes local voyages, collided with a 168-meters long, Belize flag bulk carrier, which was on the way from Novorossiysk, Russia to Castellon, Spain.
Both ships were slightly damaged after the accident, one passenger injured on the ferry, but many others were put under risk as the accident could be disastrous.
SeaNews found out that Belize flag vessel was passin the Strait without using the service of a qualified pilot, despite the strong recommendations by the International Maritime Organization and by the Turkish Government.
Video below shows how the collision had happened (But without displaying the other traffic on the site at the time of the collision, which most likely influenced the situation)
