No emergency management on Ferry "Europalink"
Passengers complained aoubt the non-existent security measures on board the "Europalink" and sought responsibility of the shipping company.
They said, the first announcement of the captain took two hours, and the crew had been in panic after the grounding, running up and down and not knowing what had happened.
They started handing out lifejackets to the passengers. After the ferry docked in Corfu on Sep 21 around 3 a.m., divers from the Ministry of Mercantile Marine were sent to the port in order to examine the hull of the ship and exactly determine the damage caused by the ferry hitting the rocks.
The inflow of water to the area where the trucks and private car - 306 where still trapped inside the ship - was brought under control.
The crew attempted to pump out the water to get out some of the cars in the foreship.
The ferry was supported by three tugs.
Meanwhile, the venting of water has been completed, while special teams have put patches on the leaks, bringing back the ship almost on even keel with only a slight list to starboard remaining.
