The first containership delivered by China International Marine Containers (CIMC) to CMA CGM reported engine failure about two weeks after delivery. Maltese-Flag, 299,99 meters long box ship escorted to a safe anchorage.
Delivered on 25 June, the 9,200teu CMA CGM Danube was constructed at the Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Company's (DSIC's) shipyard.It suffered engine failure on 9 July 24nm off Zhujiajian Island of Zhejiang Province, the Donghai Rescue Bureau said.
The containership had a crew of 27 on board. Rescue ship Donghaijiu 112 were dispatched to guard the containership and guide it to the port of Ningbo after power was restored 10 July.The containership is the first of ten newbuildings ordered by CIMC in September 2012.
