Evergreen's Ever Summit rescues crew from sinking ship off Vietnam
THE 7,024-TEU Evergreen's Ever Summit has rescued 16 Indian seafarers in the South China Sea earlier this week while enroute from Shenzhen's Skekou terminal to Malaysia's Tanjung Pelepas.
After receiving the SOS at 2pm, the Ever Summit made speed to the distressed and sinking vessel 40 nautical miles off Vietnam, where they plucked the men from a lifeboat and had them safely aboard at 4:35pm.
While continuing on its voyage, the Ever Summit ship saw to it that the owners of the stricken vessel, Mumbai-based Lilly Maritime, would take responsibility for the rescued crew in Tanjung Pelepas and arrange repatriation.
