Crew still missing as lifeboats spotted from pirated 1,066-TEU Albedo
EMPTY lifeboats have been spotted from the Malaysian-flagged 1,066-TEU Albedo which was seized by Somali pirates in November 2010 and sank in heavy seas on July 6 with the 15-man crew said to be still on board.
EU Naval Force maritime patrol aircraft spotted the lifeboats, but saw little else "No members of the MV Albedo crew or pirates were sighted in or near the lifeboats," said a statement from the naval forces.
The Albedo had a 23 crew, from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Iran when it was seized in November 2010, but seven men were freed after a ransom of US$1.1 million was paid.
