The 'AIDAperla' has been released in Rotterdam on Sep 20, 2018, after an alarm was raised due to a large number of patients on board at 10 a.m. In the past few days, seventy people had become ill, probably because of a stomach virus. Meanwhile, 50 % felt better again. Emergency services were sent to the Wilhelmina Quay. A doctor examined the patients on behalf of the Port of Rotterdam Authority. Until then, nobody was allowed to leave or enter the ship. This inspection was completed just after half past one. Before, a large group of passengers disembarked. Four buses left for Amsterdam and three buses drove back and forth to the center of Rotterdam. There were no reports of sick people on those day trips. In Rotterdam, the drivers of Milot Reizen were warned, they had to stop until further notice. At the Cruise Terminal there was a bus in which returning passengers had to wait until the ship was released. The people who disembarked showed no signs of disease and there was no risk of infection. They returned to the ship in the course of the afternoon and the voyage will resume according to the normal schedule.
